The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender for 1.5 GW of firm and dispatchable power from renewable energy projects with storage across India, official documents show.
The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The deadline for accepting bids is September 15, while offers will be opened on September 20, according to the Request for Selection (RfS) released last week.
The competitive round will select proposals based on the lowest tariff. The capacity can be located anywhere in India and should be connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS), with each renewable energy plant required to have an integrated battery energy storage (BESS) system. A single developer can bid for a cumulative contracted capacity of between 50 MW and 750 MW, in multiples of 10 MW. The maximum capacity to be allocated to a single bidder is 750 MW.
Successful projects will be awarded 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with SECI. The generated electricity is planned to be sold to Punjab State Power Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company.
